Life is unpredictable, and there are a lot of emotions that we go through every day. There are bound to be days where the emotions get the best of us, and we won't feel like 100% ourselves, and that’s okay. If we didn't have those days, we would not be able to be grateful for the good days. However, when we are feeling down, it is important to deal with it in a healthy way to avoid digging yourself into a hole. These are some of the best ways to deal with the bad days and not lose your radiance.

Get all your feelings out

When we have a problem in life that is upsetting us, the last thing you want to do is bottle up those feelings. This will just lead to the problem growing and eventually, it will all come out, making it way bigger than it needs to be. Talk to someone you trust and get all the emotions out. And if you don't have anyone to talk to, or you don’t want to talk to anyone at the time, write your feelings down or talk to yourself out loud. As long as you get it out of your head, you are on the right track. Vocalising how you feel will only help you understand the problem and allow you to come up with a solution.

Spend time with yourself

Sometimes, all we need is a bit of down-time. Be kind to yourself, and allow yourself to take a break. Do something you enjoy and something that makes you comfortable. Personally, when I am feeling down I like to put on a fresh set of pyjamas and watch a movie in bed (accompanied by a sweet treat of course). Prioritise your happiness and give yourself time to reset to avoid a potential crash out.

Create small attainable goals

Sometimes, when we are struggling, everything seems impossible, and suddenly our goals seem too far away. Don't let one bad day ruin your potential. Create smaller steps that are doable in order to stay on track. It is okay to go slower sometimes. No matter what speed you are going at, as long as you are moving forward, you will be fine.

Reassure yourself

Sometimes, we can let our anxiety get the best of us, which is why it is important what thoughts are actually ours and when we are being irrational. There is always a solution to every situation and, as long as you believe in yourself, you can get through it. It is also important to remember that sometimes we need a little struggle to make us stronger and more resilient.

Don't give in

The last thing you want to do is give in to negative feelings. Avoid spiralling by forcing yourself not to over-analyse a problem. Avoid staying in bed for days on end, as this will just lead to more unhealthyhabits, preventing you from moving forward. Make sure you're eating and drinking. Of course, it is okay to take some time and lay in bed all day if that is what you need, but letting unproductive behaviour become a habit is dangerous and can only make a situation worse.

Seek help

If you have been feeling bad for a long period of time, there is no shame in seeking the help you need. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness, but rather shows courage as you are able to be vulnerable about how you are feeling. Allowing others to help you will get you out of a bad situation and allow you to keep growing.

It is not unusual to have bad days, there will always be times where we don’t feel like ourselves. Always be kind to yourself and don’t shut people out. Find time to work through the problem and seek the help you need.
